Private House An overview
Sleeps six

Private House is the original dwelling house built many years ago by the Arab trader who originally had this little smidge of heaven as his summer beach house. The house is perched on a bluff overlooking the sea and the long white beach. The walls are thick limestone or coral rag and the sea breezes keep it cool. However, all bedrooms have standing fans.

Master bedroom

The master bedroom with its somewhat quaint ensuite bathroom is the original bedroom and retains much of the original beams and quirks of the house.

Guest twin bedroom

The twin bedroom with two generous single Arab beds has its also rather quirky ensuite bathroom and looks onto the swimming pool.

Guest double bedroom

The double bedroom also looks out to sea over the swimming pool and has its own adjoining bathroom. Big wooden shutters like all the other rooms look onto the veranda which surrounds the central pool.

  • POWER

Both Houses have mains power (240v) and water. There is a substantial water tank to back up the somewhat erratic mains supply. Mains power cuts are generally short lived and there are plenty of kerosene lanterns as back up. The house water is heated by drift wood boilers, which are lit morning and evening and might take a minute or so to run hot.

  • Wifi Access and Phone Cover

Rather with regret the houses do have Internet, there is WiFi in most areas and there is good mobile phone coverage. The best local cell provider is SAFARICOM and SIM cards can be purchased cheaply locally as can pre-pay scratch cards.

  • Food

Bakari and Selina have years of practice in the preparation of a wide variety of cooking styles. They are happy to cook whatever you want and will help source most items.

  • Laundry Services

Laundry is hand done and air-dried. It will normally be returned the following morning, whereas they will be as careful as they can, please note that the staff cannot be responsible for any damage to items laundered.
